In the context of preparing the Work Program for the period of 2009-2010 of 7th Framework program of EU funded R&D the DG Information Society and Media http://cordis.europa.eu/fp7/ict/netmedia/ organises an one day open workshop of all interested sector actors with the aim to define R&D challenges addressing the networked media sector (Objective ICT-2007.1.5 of the ICT FP7 Work Programme 2007-08) ftp://ftp.cordis.lu/pub/fp7/ict/docs/ict-wp-2007-08_en.pdf needs and EU priorities for collaborative research projects in the 7th framework program. The workshop will take place at Brussels on 29 January, 2008

At the same time an on-line consultation of all interested sector actors is launched on the future research priorities in the Networked Media research area

OW2 is a global open-source software community which mission is to develop open source code middleware and to foster a vibrant community and business ecosystem.

OW2 Members cooperate in the development of open-source distributed middleware, in the form of flexible and adaptable components. The consortium is an independent non-profit organization open to companies, institutions and individuals. OW2 federates more than one hundred organizations and 6000 developers in Europe, Asia and the Americas. OEMs and end-users. A typical global open-source organization, OW2 aims to bring together grassroots communities across all continents through Local Chapters. OW2 is committed to growing a community of open source code developers. In the open source software value chain, OW2 is positioned as an industry platform facilitating interaction between open source code Producers and open source code Consumers

Dr. Nenad Stojanovic is a Project Manager at the FZI - Research Center for Information technologies at the University of Karlsruhe. He received his MSc degree in Computer Science from the Faculty of Electronic Engineering, University of Nis, Serbia and Montenegro and a PhD degree from the University of Karlsruhe for a thesis on ‘Ontology-based Information Retrieval: Methods and Tools for Cooperative Query Answering’. He has participated in several R&D programs funded by the European Commission’s IST Programme related to ontologies, information retrieval and Knowledge Management.

Currently, he is a technical and scientific manager of the SAKE "Semantec enabled Agile Knowledge-based E-government" project. He has published more than 50 papers in international journals and conferences in the areas of ontology-based information retrieval, knowledge management, e-government.
